‘First Saturday’, May 3 at 10AM – Come walk our showcase Trail and Celebrate our 12th anniversary at Hammonasset State Park

Everyone is invited!!  Come walk and bike our finished Trail at Hammonassett State Park in Madison to celebrate our 12th year!  Use our new parking lot, walk our new boardwalk and hike the length of our finished one-mile Trail!  Chair Chip Angle will share 2013 highlights of the Trail’s  progress in all four of our towns.

Then John Paulson, chair of the Trail Development Team for Shoreline Greenway Trail will lead us  on an easy 2-mile roundtrip walk from our new parking lot to the future street crosswalk onto our walkway across the marsh along the completed Trail around the peninsula and back.  Spectacular marsh views and bird watching. Very easy, a few minor hills, one hour walk. Meet at our Shoreline Greenway Trail eastern trailhead parking lot off Route One, just east of the Hammonasset entrance road.   Directions:  Exit 62 from I 95 south to Route 1. ‘First Saturday Walk’ April 5, 10AM in East Haven’s Farm River State Park

Hike into the FARM RIVER STATE PARK from our Trail by the D.C. Moore Elementary School Hike,  with SGT leaders Barbara Brow and Michael Gambardella.  We’ll walk to an overview of the Bradford Preserve tidal wetlands, then along our 1200 ft. granite-topped trail to our Trailhead, continue down Pevetty Drive into Farm River State Park, natural, peaceful and pristine. Osprey nests, caves, glorious views of the Farm River. Easy walk, one short steep area. Approx. 1.5 miles, 1 1/2 hours.

MEET at 10 AM.  DIRECTIONS: from 142 West take a left onto Mansfield Grove Road to stop sign, right onto Hoop Pole Lane to second school parking lot on left. Next First Saturday Walk – February 1 in Madison

Come join us for a beautiful and informative walk at Hammonasset Beach State Park at 10 a.m. on Saturday February 1, 2014.

Hammo ski tracks 4Shoreline Greenway’s Madison Chair, Ginny Raff, will lead us along the planned trail path from our new parking lot to the walkway across the marsh.  We will continue along the completed trail section around the peninsula offering spectacular marsh views and bird watching.  The trail section that is not yet built is level and easy walking, and the finished trail is easy with a few minor hills. The walk is about 2 miles roundtrip and will last about 1 hour.

Meet: 10 a.m. at our new SGT eastern trailhead parking lot off Route 1 just east of the Hammonasset entrance road.

Directions: I95, Exit 62. Go south to Route 1; make a left onto Route 1 and a right into Hammonasset Beach State Park service road and the SGT parking lot.

Explore  the TABOR TRAIL eastward, and the recreational potential of Branford’s Tabor property.

We will start at 10 am at Tilcon Drive and walk east through lovely woods skirting ‘Chet’s Pond’. Shortly before the Trail crosses Pine Orchard Rd, we will link with our unique Branford Trail, looping around west, walking to the top of the closed landfill for views of Long Island Sound, Branford River, and the town.

Meet at 10 am at the Tabor Lutheran Church parking lot, Tabor Drive.
