Join us on Saturday, November 1st at 10 am for a bike ride from the Guilford town green to Lake Quonnipaug. SGT leader Terry Maguire will lead an easy, mostly flat 18 mile round trip ride up State Street past historic homes, along Little Meadow Rd and South Hoop Pole Rd to loop around the lake, with two route options, and a short stretch on narrow Route 77. An art show featuring works by members of the Board of Directors of the Madison Art Society will be held October 4 – Nov 1 at the Scranton Library, 801 Boston Post Road, Madison. The exhibit will be in the Community Room downstairs in the library. The works, in a variety of media, including sculpture, highlight the diversity of interests and artistic approaches among the board members and makes for interesting viewing. [Read more...]
Our ‘First Saturday’ Walk in September will offer walkers the chance to watch and meet members of the Madison Art Society. Artists will set up their easels along the trail en plein air and hikers may stop and watch and talk with the artists. The walk will take place on Saturday, September 6 at 10 am.
Later in the day, there will be a reception and exhibition of the completed, framed trail scenes at Friends & Co. Restaurant in Madison.
Featured on the hike will be a new section of trail completed since our last walk there and the always-beautiful views of the salt marshes. Easy two-mile walk. Meet at the SGT Eastern Trailhead parking lot off Rte. 1 just east of the Hammonasset entrance road. Directions: Exit 62 from I 95 south to Rte. 1.
